Zoom Virtual Background Generator

ILR students, faculty, and staff may use this tool to create a personalized virtual "name placard" background to use on Zoom and other virtual platforms. There are a few customizable options and you may create and save multiple versions for use in different situations. If you have any issues with this tool, contact ilrcommunications@cornell.edu.

Indicate your pronouns. Learn why this is important
Add the image as a virtual background in Zoom

Get the most out of your new background

Preview your video in Cornell Zoom and adjust your position to avoid obscuring your first name
Use the "mirror" option if you don’t want to see your name in reverse (but rest assured--it will always display correctly to others).
Avoid backlighting (no lights or windows behind your chair). A window or at least a light behind your monitor (in front of your face) works best
